Overview

The medicine ball sit up sculpts and strengthens the abs and obliques. Sit ups also involve the hip flexors and lower back to a lesser degree. Using the med ball will continue to challenge the abs long after basic crunches have been mastered.

Description

  • Lie on your back with your legs bent and feet flat on the floor.
  • Hold the medicine ball at your chest, close to the chin.
  • Keeping your neck neutral, roll your upper back off the floor.
  • Return slowly to the floor.

Mistakes

  • Jutting the chin as you sit up
  • Holding the medicine ball too low toward the stomach
  • Not sitting up all the way
