EZ-Bar Curl — Standing

Muscle Groups
  • Biceps
Purposes
  • Biceps strength

Overview

Standing EZ-bar curls strengthen and define the upper arm muscles. EZ-bar curls are a compound movement that recruits both the biceps and forearms to move the weight. If you’re looking for an alternative to barbell curls, EZ-bar curls are a great choice. The grip relieves stress on the wrist muscles by creating a slightly “neutral” position and allows for a closer grip on the bar than barbell curls.

Description

  • Standing with your body stabilized, hold the EZ-bar with your palms facing up and slightly turned inward.
  • Keep your chest up and your elbows braced at your sides at all time.
  • Bend your elbows and pull the bar up toward your chest, until your elbows can’t bend further.
  • Return slowly to the bottom position.

Mistakes

  • Letting the elbows move forward instead of keeping them back against the torso
  • Leaning back excessively
  • Swinging the body
